Woolwich Arsenal and Plumstead

Fi and I trained down to Woolwich and were surprised at what was around.

Out of the train station, the first thing spotted was Woolwich market which has been there since 1619! Sadly not a market day though we may have to revisit.

Keeping with our general flow we met up with Sian and Owen at the Dial Arch square. The whole area was previously Woolwich Arsenal and thus military facades of barracks, armories, and munition factories have been incorporated into new builds.

The sundial now mounted in this armory front was originally in the square and dated from 1764. Another good lunch and then we wandered down towards river with lots of cannons on display.

From there we walked to Plumstead where Sian lives.

Not sure what the Radical club is about, but made us giggle expecting to see Che Guevara, Marx etc hanging out.

A mandatory watering stop before making our way to the house. Met by their 2 hounds Doug and Monty and after they settled down we sat in back yard for evening.

Although not too cold we fired up the chimera firepit and enjoyed. Time flew and next thing bed was beckoning.

Up today and a bit overcast and cooler, but we intend to see more of this part of London including the forrest.
